Training Rosy, AGAIN

Ever since Rosy was molting she was running away from me when I try to pick her up, and when I do get her she makes a weird squawking noise and tries to get away. So today when I let them out I went and picked up Rosy and brought her to where I had the treats and put her down and held her there while I tried to get the treats as fast as I could and then she was already back in the yard still running and it was really hard to get her to notice that I had treats because she was trying to just get away. but then she noticed and happily had some. I use the treats as a reward after I pick them up or they get on  my lap or shoulder and at first that is how we trained them to let us pick them up. Oh yeah and this whole time Eggward was in the nesting box not knowing that the others were out. 😉

Cuddly chickens!

Today I went to see the chickens and I couldn’t help it… I let them out, not that it’s a bad thing I just wasn’t planning on it. But after I did Legolas fallowed me to our picnic table and I sat down away from the table and she came up on my lap. You do know that they come on my lap if you read the rest of my website but for the first time Legolas laid/sat down on my lap (she wasn’t standing). She sat there for a while, but when Omelette came over and was just scratching in dirt so I didn’t want her to come up, so I put the treats behind me on the table and Legolas jumped down and I had to stop Omelette from coming up. Other chickens do lay down on my lap but she doesn’t and normally jumps off if I put the treats too low. I just thought it was cute. 🙂

Rosy is a bunny

One day my dad got home and went to clean out the coop. So I went to help and apparently Rosy was molting. She looked very ugly and she was leaving feathers everywhere she went.  A few days later the end of her tail wasn’t there (I haven’t seen a chicken like that before) so her tail was a ball. She looks very silly.

here is a picture of her 🙂

Diggy digs.

Today I went to give the chickens some kale. It was rainy so only Diggy was outside. But I through the kale out and Eggward and Omelette came out and they were eating it. Then diggy hopped into the middle and started scratching facing away from Eggward so a bunch of kale went flying into Eggwards face. I thought it was funny!

Funny Sillyness

Today I went out to fill the chickens food. I filled it like normal and then filled up the bucket again. I went to fill the finish filling the food and Rosy got out the gate so I just pulled the gate open all the way. Then Tico was just standing there looking at the bucket. She didn’t wanna go out into the yard she wanted more food. LOL! So she just was there the whole time and then I put the chickens back away and went inside.

Later I came out with some fruit for them and Eggward was out now (Eggward was laying when I filled the food) and she ran to the fruit just like all the others. But Legolas was just at my feet waiting. I tried to get her to eat the pair core but she didn’t (she was being picky) so I went and got some treats for them. They forgot about the fruit and came over. So I tried to get Rosey or Eggward to come on my shoulder and I waited and I waited. But then Omelette came up for the first time. She seemed to get mad when I threw some down to the others but oh well.

Birds…

Today I was looking at the chickens. They stared at me. I stared at them. And then I remembered a time wen I came out the back door and they all ran over to see me and a bird landed behind Eggward in there part of the yard. I didn’t know what she was going to do (I thought she was going to freak out) and she just stared at me and ignored the bird. So I just kept watching and in about 10 seconds Eggward turned around and chased it. (she did know it was there)
